Olga Orellano’s Life Story

Olga’s Story

Olga emigrated from Cuba in 1966. She raised 2 daughters alone as a single mom, working 2 jobs for many years. While doing all this, she learned English within a year of arriving in the States and, soon after, went to school to learn accounting. She ran the accounts payable department of a major department store for many years and was later an auditor for another large supermarket chain. Her hard-working disposition inspired her daughters to always strive to achieve their highest potential in all their endeavors. One of her daughters, Silvia Stradi, became a nurse and reached the echelon of chief nursing officer for the East Florida Division HCA hospitals. Her younger daughter, Dr. Carmen Romero, graduated from the University of Miami Medical School and has worked over 30 years as an Internal Medicine Physician.

Olga’s faith was central to her life. She not only professed her faith, but lived it. She served as the President of the Damas Católicas at St. Agatha Church for 8 years. She planted the seed of faith in her family, and countless others, some of whom came to believe in Jesus Christ. Serving others was an essential part of who she was. Just one month before her passing, Olga organized a collection of food, clothing and medicines to send to relatives in Cuba.

Her memory will live in the lives of so many whom her loving spirit touched. She left behind 2 daughters, Silvia Stradi and Carmen Romero, a son in law, Victor Romero, whom she always referred to as her own son, 5 grandchildren, Joseph, David and Michael Stradi, Victor and Alyssa Romero, and 2 great grandchildren, Joseph Mark Stradi and Arabella Stradi.

We love Olga. She’s like a mother to us. We thanks God for bringing her to our lives. She not only saved our marriage but showed us the love of Jesus. Although she has a busy life, she was always there for us. She’s one of the most beautiful people ( inside and outside) that God has brought to this world. Her family ( daughters and grand children ) are beautiful people like her. May she always be with God now. I am so thankful that God gave me one last visit with Olga before her passing. I felt a very spiritual pull to go visit her in March and for that I will be forever grateful. We will always love and miss her.

To love a person is to learn the song that is in their heart and to sing it to them when they have forgotten. Arne Garborg My dear Carmen, friend and sister and my purest inspiration. You learned the song in your mother’s heart and sung it to her everyday through all your caring ways of love for her. I mourn with you and am so grateful to your mother for giving me, your sweet presence in my life which has made all the difference in my own earthly journey. All my love and gratitude, Rita
