In Loving Memory of Nelson Amador Eneris “El Niwa”

August 2, 1958 – August 6, 2026

Nelson Amador Eneris, affectionately known to many as “Niwa,” passed away unexpectedly and suddenly on August 6, 2026, at the age of 68. His passing has left a profound emptiness in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born in Havana, Cuba, in the coastal municipality, Marianao-Playa, Nelson was the beloved son of Roberto Amador Gomez and Margot Eneris Ordovas. He was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, companion, and friend whose life was defined by his love for his family, his generosity toward others, his sense of humor, and his unmistakably big heart.

Nelson was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marta Amador Ramos, with whom he shared his life and raised his family. He is survived by his children, Nelson Amador Jr., Edward Jim Amador, Ana Marta Amador, and Asdrubal Nelson Amador, and by his cherished grandchildren, Caleb Amador, Samantha Alime Amador, Alberto Rodriguez III, Alexa Nunez, and Asdro Amador.

Nelson also leaves behind his beloved siblings Roberto Amador, Jorge Amador, Margarita Amador, Feliz A. Amador, Raul Amador Norat, Xiomara Amador Norat, and Regla Amador, and is preceded in death by his brothers Noel Amador and Lazaro Amador Norat.

Later in life, Nelson was blessed to find a new love and companion in Debbie Weinrich, who shared the last two years of his life with him. Debbie became an important part of Nelson’s life, particularly during his retirement. Together, they enjoyed their time, companionship, adventures, and the simple pleasures of life. She brought happiness and companionship into a chapter of Nelson’s life when he was finally able to slow down, enjoy himself, and spend more time doing the things he loved. His family is grateful that he had the opportunity to experience that happiness and love with Debbie.

Nelson’s working life was as diverse and adventurous as his personality. He began his career in sanitation before pursuing a number of entrepreneurial and small-business ventures. Later in life, he found particular fulfillment as a CDL heavy and tractor-trailer truck driver, traveling throughout the country. He loved the freedom of the open road and the experiences that came with seeing different parts of the country.

But Nelson’s greatest accomplishment was never his career, his businesses, or anything he owned.

His greatest accomplishment was his family.

Faith was also an important part of the foundation Nelson and Marta gave their children. Together, they instilled the Catholic faith in their family, making sure their children received religious education and completed their sacraments. Although Nelson was not a practicing Catholic in the traditional sense, he was a God-fearing man who believed in God and carried a deep respect for faith throughout his life. The values of faith, family, and doing for others remained an important part of the man he was and the legacy he leaves behind.

Nelson was not a perfect man, and he would never have claimed to be. He had his faults, his struggles, and his imperfections, just as we all do. But those who knew him best knew something else about him that mattered far more: he had an incredible heart.

Nelson was generous almost to a fault. If he had something and someone else needed it, he was often willing to give it away. He helped people without always thinking about what he might receive in return. He was the kind of person who could give away what he had because, to him, people mattered more than possessions.

He was full of energy, humor, and personality. When Nelson walked into a room, you knew he was there. He could be silly, funny, mischievous, outspoken, and sometimes the center of the conversation. He had a unique ability to make people laugh and bring energy into any room.

His relationship with his grandchildren was particularly special. Nelson absolutely adored them, and they adored him in return. His bond with his grandchildren grew into something uniquely beautiful. He was playful, funny, and always willing to meet them where they were, even if that meant participating in Snapchat pictures, TikTok trends, jokes, or whatever new thing they had going on. He wanted to keep up with them, stay relevant, and, most importantly, stay close to them.

For his grandchildren, he wasn’t simply Grandpa. He was their friend, their partner in fun, and someone who made them feel loved.

Nelson also had a lifelong passion for the ocean and the water. The water was where he felt most at home. He loved fishing, scuba diving, boating, and virtually anything that allowed him to be near the sea. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the water, surrounded by family and friends.

He also had a deep appreciation for automobiles, particularly Corvettes, and throughout his life owned several that were true gems. Cars, boats, fishing, diving, travel, and adventure were all part of the life he enjoyed.

In his later years, Nelson was beginning a new chapter. After spending much of his life working and providing for his family, he was finally enjoying retirement. He was spending more time with his children and grandchildren, enjoying the water, traveling, and building a life with Debbie. He was finding happiness in the freedom that retirement brought and in having more time to simply enjoy life.

His passing came suddenly and unexpectedly, at a time when none of us believed we were anywhere near saying goodbye. He had just celebrated his 68th birthday.

There were supposed to be more birthdays. More boat rides. More fishing trips. More laughs. More family gatherings. More silly pictures with his grandchildren. More conversations. More memories. We simply weren’t ready.

For those who loved Nelson, there will be moments of profound sadness and questions that may never have answers. There will be moments when his children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends will wish for just one more conversation, one more hug, one more laugh, or one more day together.

But what remains is the life he gave us. The memories. The laughter. The stories. The adventures. The lessons. And most importantly, the love.

Nelson had a beautiful heart.

He loved his family deeply. He gave generously. He made people laugh. He lived with energy and personality. He wasn’t perfect, but he was real—and those who loved him knew the goodness that lived inside that big heart.

As his family mourns his unexpected passing, they take comfort in the faith that was instilled in them and in the hope that God’s mercy and love extend beyond this life.

And perhaps there is no more fitting place to remember Nelson than near the water he loved so much.

The ocean represented freedom, adventure, peace, and happiness to him. His family will forever remember the days spent fishing, boating, diving, laughing, and enjoying life together on the water.

His family now entrusts Nelson to God’s loving mercy, with faith in the promise of eternal life and the hope that, one day, those who love him will be together again.

May God welcome Nelson home. May he rest in eternal peace. And may the memory of his beautiful heart live forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

Pero el mayor logro de Nelson nunca fue su carrera, sus negocios ni ninguna de las cosas que poseía.

La fe también fue una parte importante de los cimientos que Nelson y Marta dieron a sus hijos. Juntos inculcaron la fe católica en su familia, asegurándose de que sus hijos recibieran educación religiosa y completaran sus sacramentos. Aunque Nelson no era un católico practicante en el sentido tradicional, era un hombre temeroso de Dios, que creía en Él y mantuvo a lo largo de su vida un profundo respeto por la fe. Los valores de la fe, la familia y el ayudar a los demás permanecieron como una parte importante del hombre que fue y del legado que deja.

Nelson no fue un hombre perfecto, y jamás habría pretendido serlo. Tuvo sus defectos, sus luchas y sus imperfecciones, como todos nosotros. Pero quienes mejor lo conocieron sabían algo más de él que importaba mucho más: tenía un corazón extraordinario.

Nelson era generoso casi hasta el extremo. Si tenía algo y otra persona lo necesitaba, muchas veces estaba dispuesto a dárselo. Ayudaba a los demás sin pensar siempre en lo que podía recibir a cambio. Era de esas personas capaces de dar lo que tenían porque, para él, las personas valían más que las posesiones.

Estaba lleno de energía, humor y personalidad. Cuando Nelson entraba a una habitación, sabías que estaba allí. Podía ser travieso, divertido, bromista, espontáneo, directo y, algunas veces, el centro de la conversación. Tenía una manera única de hacer reír a las personas y de llenar de energía cualquier lugar donde se encontrara.

Su relación con sus nietos era especialmente hermosa. Nelson los adoraba, y ellos lo adoraban a él. El vínculo que desarrolló con sus nietos se convirtió en algo verdaderamente especial. Era juguetón, divertido y siempre estaba dispuesto a compartir con ellos en su mundo, incluso si eso significaba participar en fotografías de Snapchat, tendencias de TikTok, bromas o cualquier cosa nueva que estuvieran haciendo. Quería mantenerse al día con ellos, seguir siendo parte de su mundo y, sobre todo, permanecer cerca de ellos.

Para sus nietos, él no era simplemente el abuelo.

Era su amigo, su compañero de juegos y de aventuras, y alguien que los hacía sentir profundamente amados.

Nelson también tuvo durante toda su vida una gran pasión por el océano y el agua. El agua era el lugar donde se sentía verdaderamente en casa. Le encantaba pescar, bucear, navegar en bote y prácticamente cualquier actividad que le permitiera estar cerca del mar. Algunos de sus momentos más felices los pasó sobre el agua, rodeado de familiares y amigos.

También tenía una profunda pasión por los automóviles, especialmente los Corvettes, y a lo largo de su vida tuvo varios que fueron verdaderas joyas. Los automóviles, los botes, la pesca, el buceo, los viajes y la aventura fueron parte de la vida que disfrutó.

En sus últimos años, Nelson estaba comenzando un nuevo capítulo de su vida. Después de pasar gran parte de su vida trabajando y brindando por su familia, finalmente estaba disfrutando de su jubilación. Pasaba más tiempo con sus hijos y nietos, disfrutando del agua, viajando y construyendo una vida junto a Debbie. Estaba encontrando felicidad en la libertad que le brindaba la jubilación y en tener más tiempo simplemente para disfrutar de la vida.

Su partida llegó de manera repentina e inesperada, en un momento en el que ninguno de nosotros imaginaba que estaríamos cerca de tener que decirle adiós. Apenas había celebrado su cumpleaños número 68.

Debían haber muchos más cumpleaños. Más paseos en bote. Más días de pesca.
Más risas. Más reuniones familiares.
Más fotografías y ocurrencias con sus nietos. Más conversaciones. Más recuerdos.

Simplemente no estábamos preparados.

Para quienes amaron a Nelson, habrá momentos de profunda tristeza y preguntas que quizá nunca tengan respuesta. Habrá momentos en los que sus hijos, nietos, hermanos y amigos desearán tener tan solo una conversación más, un abrazo más, una risa más o un día más juntos.

Pero lo que permanece es la vida que nos regaló. Los recuerdos. Las risas. Las historias. Las aventuras. Las enseñanzas. Y, sobre todo, el amor.

Nelson tenía un hermoso corazón.

Amó profundamente a su familia. Dio generosamente. Hizo reír a las personas. Vivió con energía y personalidad. No fue perfecto, pero fue auténtico; y quienes lo amaron conocieron la bondad que habitaba dentro de ese gran corazón.

Mientras su familia llora su inesperada partida, encuentra consuelo en la fe que les fue inculcada y en la esperanza de que la misericordia y el amor de Dios se extienden más allá de esta vida.

Y quizás no haya un lugar más apropiado para recordar a Nelson que cerca del agua que tanto amó.

El océano representaba para él libertad, aventura, paz y felicidad. Su familia recordará para siempre aquellos días de pesca, paseos en bote, buceo, risas y momentos disfrutados juntos sobre el agua.

Ahora su familia encomienda a Nelson a la amorosa misericordia de Dios, con fe en la promesa de la vida eterna y con la esperanza de que, algún día, quienes lo aman puedan volver a estar juntos.

Que Dios reciba a Nelson en su hogar.
Que descanse en paz eterna.
Y que el recuerdo de su hermoso corazón viva para siempre en el corazón de todos aquellos que lo amaron.
