Obituary for Mrs. Ligia Cecilia Perez

Ligia C. Perez de Quintero, 87, of Cali, Colombia, passed away November 8th, 2020 with her family by her side. From her birth to her death she nourished people around her with love, food, faith, and music. She was born to parents Arturo Millan Perez and Cecilia Vergara Molina de Perez, Dec. 22, 1932, in Cali, Colombia and was the sixth out of ten children.

She married the late Fransisco Quintero in 1953, and they lived together for twenty four years. Ligia is survived by five children: Adriana Quintero, of Miami; Ligia Tillman, of Miami; Clara Quintero, of Miami; Claudia Villegas, of Miami; and Ernesto Quintero, of Miami. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Ligia was predeceased by her loving son Francisco (Pachito) in 1988 and her husband in 1980.

Ligia dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren. Her most favorite pastime was praying with her rosary. She loved to go to church and she loved cooking loving meals for her family. She would cook Colombian cuisine that consisted of sancocho de cola and arroz con pollo. All of Ligia’s children moved to Miami by 1994 and she became a citizen of the United States of America in 2010.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020 at 10:00 am at Graceland Funeral Home, 3434 Flagler Street. Burial will follow at Vista Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone who offered their care and support during Ligia’s last months of life.
