Imose Dorcelia Descorbeth, 68, passed away on September 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, wisdom, and selflessness that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A Devoted Wife
More than 50 years ago, Imose met the love of her life, Albert, in Anse-à-Veau. What began as a young love grew into a lifelong partnership filled with love, family, sacrifice, and devotion. Throughout their life together, Imose was deeply devoted to Albert and to the home and family they built together. She dedicated herself to caring for her household and her husband, giving of herself wholeheartedly and often putting the needs of her family before her own. For nearly five decades, Albert and Imose walked through life together, sharing the joys, challenges, responsibilities, and blessings that come with building a family. Her devotion to her husband was unwavering, and the love she had for him was evident in the way she cared for him and their home. Together, they shared 48 years of marriage, just five months short of celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary; these years represent a lifetime of love and memories that will forever remain a part of Albert’s heart and their family’s story.
A Beloved Mother
Mom was our foundation, our protector, our teacher, and our safe place. Her love was unconditional, her patience seemed endless, and her wisdom was something we could always depend on. Mom was selfless in every sense of the word. She gave her time, her energy, her love, and her heart to the people around her. She was a refuge for everyone who needed a place to turn—a listening ear, a comforting presence, a word of wisdom, or simply someone who would be there.
A Loving Grandmother
Being a grandmother was another role she cherished deeply. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart. She loved them fiercely and was a source of comfort, guidance, affection, and wisdom in their lives. The memories they shared with their grandmother will become treasures they carry with them as they grow. Her love will continue through them, through the stories they tell, the lessons they remember, and the traditions they carry forward.
Her Family and Legacy
Imose’s maternal love could never be confined to just her immediate household. She possessed a rare, expansive sharing spirit that turned friends into family and
acquaintances into loved ones. This was especially true in DELMAS, where she spent the
greater part of her life. Imose became a pillar of her community known for her boundlessly
generous heart. She took immense joy in sharing food, meals, and goods with
neighborhood children, always ensuring that the young ones around her were cared for and
never went without. Her home and her heart always seemed to have room for one more
person.
Mom had a way of showing love through the simplest things. One of the many memories
that will always bring a smile is her favorite meal, banann ak pwasson. Food was more than
something to eat—it was part of the love, family, and togetherness she created around her.
She had charisma that was impossible to forget. Her warmth, personality, and ability to
make people feel genuinely welcomed left an indelible impression on everyone she met.
She touched countless lives, often in ways she may have never realized. For those that
knew her, her absence has created a huge hole that cannot be filled.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Albert; her children, Widmayer, Ketthia, Gregory,
Valentina, and Cliff; her grandchildren, Giovani, Lara, Albertini, Makayla, Ariah, and Yann
Fabri; her two beloved daughters-in-law, Fabienne and Yanela; her only sibling, Tertulien;
her sisters-in-law, Jacqueline and Maryse; her beloved cousins, Lotese, Benito, and
Ilomene; her nephews, Ben and Hughe; as well as extended family and dear friends who
were blessed to know and love her.
Forever in Our Hearts
Although our hearts are broken by her passing, we are grateful for the life she lived and for
the countless ways she gave herself to others. She taught us through her actions what it
means to love deeply, give selflessly, remain patient, and always be there for the people
who need you. Mom, we wish we could have had more time with you. There are so many
things we would still like to say and so many memories we would still like to make. But we
will spend the rest of our lives carrying your love with us.
Thank you for being our mother. Thank you for being our refuge. Thank you for your
patience, your wisdom, your strength, your charisma, and your unconditional love. Thank
you for loving your family so completely and for giving so much of yourself to all of us.
Mom, you left a piece of yourself in everyone you met, and that is why your memory will
never fade. We will miss you more than words can express. Your absence has left a huge
hole in our lives, but your love will forever fill our hearts.
