Luis German Ortega, también conocido como “Wichy” por sus amigos y familiares y “Wewe” por sus nietos, de 84 años, falleció el 21 de noviembre de 2023 en Tallahassee Memorial Hospital rodeado de su querida familia. Su familia, sus amigos y todos aquellos cuyas vidas tocó le echarán mucho de menos.
Luis Ortega (Wichy) nació el 11 de octubre de 1939 en San Antonio De Los Baños, Cuba. En 1967 se mudó a Miami, Florida y vivió allí toda su vida, junto con su amada esposa María y sus hijos Marlen y Carlos.
A lo largo de su vida, Wichy fue conocido por su personalidad tranquila y amante de la diversión. Era conocido por tener una risa increíble, contagiosa y única . Siempre fue capaz de hacer sonreír y reír a todos los que lo rodeaban. Nadie entró en contacto con él sin quedar impresionado y feliz de haberlo conocido. En pocas palabras: ¡a todos les encantó Wichy!
Fue Contador durante toda su carrera, ¡y muy buena! Siempre trabajó con pequeñas empresas, en las que era muy respetado por su habilidad para ayudarlas a gestionar sus finanzas. Su alto nivel de habilidades y su sólida ética de trabajo dieron como resultado su capacidad para cuidar siempre de su familia y le permitieron a su esposa ser ama de casa.
Más allá de su vida profesional, Wichy sentía un profundo amor por las cosas simples de la vida, como disfrutar de un vaso de whisky mientras descansaba en el sofá y escuchaba clásicos como Frank Sinatra, Frankie Vallie y su Elvis Presley favorito. Le encantaba ver películas y deportes . Amaba especialmente a los Miami Dolphins y a cualquier equipo deportivo de Miami. Pero, sobre todo, le encantaba pasar tiempo con su esposa, sus hijos y sus nietos, ¡preferiblemente todos juntos!
Su legado vivirá a través de los recuerdos que creó, el amor que compartió y los valores que inculcó a quienes lo rodearon.
Le sobreviven su esposa María Ortega, sus dos hijos Marlen Abdala-Menéndez y Carlos Ortega; y tres nietos Julian Abdala, Megan Ortega y Eric Ortega.
Se llevará a cabo un servicio conmemorativo/de visualización de 6 p. m. a 10 p. m. el sábado 2 de diciembre de 2023 en Graceland Funeral Home, 3434 W Flager st. Miami, Fl 33135. En lugar de flores, la familia solicita amablemente donaciones que servirán para ayudar a su esposa a cubrir cualquier gasto imprevisto que pueda surgir durante este período. La información se proporcionará a pedido.
Con su fallecimiento, Wichy deja un legado de amor, bondad y recuerdos preciados que resonarán para siempre en nuestros corazones. Que su espíritu continúe inspirándonos y guiándonos, y que encontremos consuelo en el impacto duradero que tuvo en nuestras vidas. Luis German Ortega also known as “Wichy” to friends/family and “Wewe” to his grandchildren, 84, passed away November 21st, 2023 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital surrounded by his beloved family. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Luis Ortega (Wichy) was born on October 11th 1939 in San Antonio De Los Banos, Cuba. In 1967 he moved to Miami, Fl and lived there his entire life, along with his beloved wife, Maria, and his children Marlen and Carlos.
Throughout his life, Wichy was known for his easy-going and fun-loving personality. He was known for having a bigger than life laugh that was contagious and one of a kind. He was always able to make everyone around him smile and laugh along with him. No one came in contact with him without coming away impressed and happy to have met him. Simply put – everyone loved Wichy!
He was an Accountant for his entire career, and a damn good one! Always working with small businesses, in which he was highly respected for his savviness in helping them navigate their finances. His high skill level and strong work ethic resulted in his ability to always take care of his family and allowed his wife to be a stay-at-home mom.
Beyond his professional life, Wichy had a profound love for the simple things in life like enjoying a glass of whiskey while lounging on the couch and listening to classics such as Frank Sinatra, Frankie Vallie, and his favorite Elvis Presley. He loved watching movies and sports. He especially loved the Miami Dolphins, and any Miami sports team. But most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, his kids, and his grandkids – preferably all together!
His legacy will live on through the memories he created, the love he shared, and the values he instilled in those around him.
He is survived by his wife Maria Ortega, his two children Marlen Abdala-Menendez and Carlos Ortega; and three grandchildren Julian Abdala, Megan Ortega, and Eric Ortega.
A Memorial/Viewing service will be held at 6pm-10pm on Saturday, Dec 2nd, 2023, at Graceland Funeral Home, 3434 W Flager st. Miami, Fl 33135. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations that will serve to help his wife cover any unforeseen expenses that may arise during this period. Information will be provided upon request.
In his passing, Wichy leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever resonate in our hearts. May his spirit continue to inspire and guide us, and may we find solace in the enduring impact he had on our lives. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
