Condolences for Mr. LUIS GALBIS

Harry G. Schoger posted on 9/30/26

Sorrowfully, I recently got news of Luis' passing. Luis was a two-year cadet at Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana. He was assigned to Infantry Co. B., graduating in the Class of 1956. I knew him because I was his company captain that year. I considered him an asset to our organization. Not only that, he invited several Co. B mates to visit him in Havana, Cuba, and stay at his house. Michael Williams, Wade (Mike) Willey, and I took him up on his offer in the summer of 1956. He and his family were superb hosts. We spent a pleasurable week with them. I never saw him again, although I connected with him by email or phone occasionally after he migrated to the US. I invited him to join us on campus for reunions every five years, but he never attended. He seemed to dart back and forth to and from Connecticut, where I believe his son lived. For the last decade or so, I have been the Culver Class of '56 president. This past May, I stepped aside as the President and was assigned the title President Emeritus. Since nobody has yet replaced me, I, on behalf of all our classmates still standing, who are 61 in number, extend our deepest and sincerest condolences to Luis' family and friends. He was an excellent comrade and will be missed. Harry G. Schoger President Emeritus, Culver Military Academy Class of '56
