Con amor profundo y gratitud por su vida, despedimos a José Joaquín Bitar Torralvo, quien partió en paz el 17 de febrero de 2026.
Nació en Bogotá, Colombia, el 10 de agosto de 1942, donde creció junto a sus amadas madre y hermana menor.
Desde joven mostró una mente brillante y una curiosidad que lo llevaría más allá de las fronteras de su natal Colombia. Su formación como Ingeniero Agrónomo en Texas A&M fue motivo de gran orgullo para él y su familia, fue un verdadero “Aggie”, capitán del equipo de esgrima, liderando campeonatos nacionales con disciplina y éxito.
Su vida lo llevó entre Colombia, Estados Unidos y Brasil, construyendo experiencias, historias y amistades. En los últimos 26 años vivió en Estados Unidos junto a su familia.
José Joaquín fue un hombre inteligente, encantador y generoso. Amante de los deportes, gran conversador y profundamente culto, hablaba varios idiomas y tenía un talento natural para las plantas y la tierra. Disfrutaba cocinar, y su Paella Valenciana era su plato insignia.
Quienes lo conocieron recuerdan su gran corazón y su capacidad de querer y relacionarse con todas las personas con facilidad. Amó profundamente a su familia quienes desde ya lo extrañan muchísimo.
Le sobreviven su esposa, Gloria Bitar; sus hijas, Mónica Bitar y Renata Bitar; y su nieta, Emily Bitar. Se reúne ahora en paz con su hijo, José Fernando Bitar.
Aunque su partida deja un enorme vacío, su memoria vivirá en quienes lo amaron y compartieron con él momentos que hoy se convierten en recuerdo.
La ceremonia religiosa se llevará a cabo el jueves 26 de febrero a las 10:30am en La Capilla de la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (11691 NW 25th St. Doral, FL, 33172). El sepelio será a las 12:00pm en el Cementerio Católico Our Lady of Mercy (11411 NW 25th St. Doral, FL 33172).

With deep love and gratitude for his life, we say goodbye to José Joaquín Bitar Torralvo, who passed peacefully on February 17, 2026.
He was born in Bogotá, Colombia, on August 10, 1942, where he grew up alongside his beloved mother and younger sister.
From a young age, he demonstrated a brilliant mind and a curiosity that would take him far beyond the borders of his native Colombia. He earned his degree in Agronomy from Texas A&M University, a great source of pride for him and his family. A true “Aggie,” he served as captain of the fencing team, leading them to national championships with discipline and success.
His life journey took him between Colombia, the United States, and Brazil, building experiences, stories, and lasting friendships. For the past 26 years, he lived in the United States with his family.
José Joaquín was intelligent, charming, and generous. A lover of sports, a great conversationalist, and deeply cultured, he spoke several languages and had a natural gift for plants and the land. He enjoyed cooking, and his Paella Valenciana was his signature dish.
Those who knew him remember his big heart and his natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He loved his family deeply, and they already miss him profoundly.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria Bitar; his daughters, Mónica Bitar and Renata Bitar; and his granddaughter, Emily Bitar. He is now reunited in peace with his son, José Fernando Bitar.
Though his passing leaves a great void, his memory will live on in those who loved him and shared moments that now become cherished memories.
The religious ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 26th at 10:30am at the Chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (11691 NW 25th St. Doral, FL 33172). The burial will take place at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery (11411 NW 25th St. Doral, FL 33172).
