Armando “Tony” Otero

September 15, 1948 – December 4, 2025

Armando “Tony” Otero, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of his family, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born on September 15, 1948, in Havana, Cuba, Tony’s life was defined by courage, perseverance, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. As a young boy, he came to the United States through Operation Peter Pan—a historic journey that shaped his resilience and strength. From that moment on, he built a life rooted in hard work, integrity, and opportunity.

Tony enjoyed a remarkable professional career, serving as Vice President at Verizon in New York for more than 40 years. His leadership, dedication, and strong work ethic earned him deep respect throughout his career. He also served as President of Kiwanis, a global volunteer service organization dedicated to supporting children, education, and community initiatives. In retirement, Tony moved to Miami, where he embraced a meaningful new chapter of life. He remained deeply involved in the community, proudly serving as a director and chairman for nonprofit organizations, including Herencia Cultural Cubana—reflecting his lifelong love for Cuban culture and his commitment to preserving its traditions.

Tony shared 15 beautiful years with his beloved wife, Marta “Martica” Fenton Otero. When he met Martica, his devotion extended beyond marriage—he earned his insurance license to work alongside her, and with his guidance, belief, and support, her business flourished. Their relationship was a testament to teamwork, love, and mutual admiration.

A proud and devoted father, Tony shared six children with Martica: Aliette, Robert, Carlos, Michael, Andres, and Christy. He was also the proud grandfather of twelve grandchildren: Sofia, Niko, Bobby, Andre, Oscar, Mila, Mikey, Lydia, Romina, Alessia, and Valentina. Two of his sons proudly served in the United States Navy—an honor that meant the world to him.

Above all, Tony’s greatest joy was being called “Abu & Buelo” by his grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure. He cherished every moment spent guiding them, offering wisdom, sharing laughter, and creating lasting memories. His stories, humor, and steady presence will live on through each of them.

Tony will be remembered for his generosity, resilience, leadership, and the way he lifted everyone around him. His legacy is written in the family he built, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
