In Loving Memory of Elvira Gonzalez
Elvira Gonzalez was born on January 25, 1940, in Havana, Cuba. In June 1968, she came to the United States through the historic Freedom Flights—one of the most meaningful chapters in Cuban-American history, when families were given the chance to leave everything familiar behind in search of freedom, safety, and opportunity. Elvira embraced that journey with remarkable courage. She was a proud immigrant who built a beautiful life through hard work, faith, and perseverance—proving what it means to start over with dignity and hope. She first settled in New York for a short time and later made her home in Miami, Florida, where she built a life rooted in love, resilience, and family.
Elvira was also proud of her career and strong work ethic. She was part of the Cordis / Johnson & Johnson family for many years and worked as an inspector for over two decades before retiring.
She passed away peacefully in Miami, Florida, on December 3, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Georgina Sanchez; her husband, Reynold Gonzalez; her cherished daughter, Maria de Los Angeles Gutierrez Moloney; and other beloved family members, Onilda Gutierrez and Tomas Ramon Gutierrez.
Elvira’s greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Carmen Valdes; her grandchildren, Meghan Moloney and Robert Moloney; her great-grandchildren, Everett Ganceres, Margot Ganceres, and Jackson Ganceres; and her nieces, Milda Gutierrez and Gurith Torrez. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who loved her.
