On Friday, November 13, 2020, Juan Flavio Carrillo, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 84.
Juan Flavio was born on October 5, 1936 in Guanabacoa, Cuba to Juan Carrillo Alvarez and Pilar Montells Montells. He studied Civil Engineering at the University of Havana, fleeing his beloved homeland before completing his degree. After relocating from Los Angeles, he worked in construction in Miami, FL for the greater part of his professional life. On December 23, 1965, he married Gudelia González. They raised one son, Flavio Carrillo.
Juan Flavio had a passion for Flamenco, Zarzuelas, and all things Sevilla. He loved stamp collecting, model ship building, history, boxing, and baseball. Juan Flavio was an avid crossword puzzle and Sudoku enthusiast. He was known for his warmth, his sense of humor, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Juan Flavio was preceded in death by his father, Juan, his mother, Pilar, and his brother, Aurelio. He is survived by his wife, Gudelia, his son, Flavio (Cara), his three grandchildren, Sonya, Raisa, and Flavio Adamo, and his two nieces, Elsa and Pilar.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the Graceland Funeral Home at 3434 Flagler Street from 4 o’clock p.m. to midnight. The burial will take place at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery at 11411 N.W. 25 Street, in Doral, FL.
